Even better this time

The mind matters most says Buddha. Everything that we do is an extension of our monkey minds.

For me, the first Vipassana meditation course was to get a glimpse of how we are fundamentally wavelets. The Bhang which is a process where your entire system collapses in to vibrations was mind blowing. I was not thinking but was in ecstasy. But this time around, I was filled with many questions. How am I experiencing these vibrations? I found scientific explanations wanting. But I experienced more peace this time. Peace like a cold chill enters your being. If I thought I had arrived the first time, this time I have a feeling that I have not even begun.

Vipassana meditation teaches you to be aware of the sensations on your body. Every experience creates sensations on your body. And every time you react to these sensations you create sankaras which is the root cause of misery. No matter what is happening in the world, it is only your reactions that matter. There are only two reactions to the sensations - craving or aversion. If you liked the sensation you begin to crave for it, if you did not you begin to hate it. Both reactions are bad. If you can remain indifferent to all sensations, you can become enlightened and escape the cycle of life and death. Equanimity is the greatest virtue for a Vipassana meditator. Without equanimity the technique will not work. Even short time equanimity we practice in this ten day course helps eradicate life long stock of sankaras. Leaving room for experiencing real peace and happiness.

Dhamma Ketana Vipassana Center, Chengannur, Kerala

Decided to go back to Chengannur Vipassana Center. Loved the place last time. If we are trying to commune with nature via meditation, nature in all its glory at Kerala makes the process easy. Every time you open your eyes, nature greets you with such grace at this center. I want to go back here again and again. Lovely place with lovely people.
